Interview

What brings you joy in your role?

I love that email is a direct response channel, so we get to see how customers interact and engage with the content we are creating on a daily basis!

What is a common misconception about your role?

A common misconception about email marketing is that it is as simple as pressing ‘send’. There is SO much more thought and process that goes behind designing and executing an email campaign to customers to make it engaging, relevant and worthy of that email open.

What tips, tricks, or pieces of advice would give a new Iterable user?

Iterable Academy is amazing! There is so much self-paced content. I highly recommend the foundations course to all new users – it will set you on the right course to using Iterable.

What are some Iterable features that have made your job easier? Or have been game-changers for yourself and your team?

The customer profile lookup is one of my team’s most used features in Iterable. It’s a great way to troubleshoot customer experiences with an extensive custom event and email history. It’s helped us quickly clear up confusion or catch and fix issues.

As a consumer, what brings you joy from a brand’s outreach/communication?

I love brands that have a playful voice and tone. It personalizes the consumer experience for me in a way I can relate to.

What do you think will be the next big thing in the marketing industry (AI, automation, new channels?)

Learning how to best utilize AI is going to be a big challenge in the marketing industry. There are so many use cases for AI, but at the end of the day, marketing still requires human oversight. Finding the balance between leveraging AI to optimize marketing, without losing that human element, is tricky!

What’s the best advice you’ve ever been given?

“Feel the fear and do it anyways”. Whether it be a tough situation personally or professionally, the greatest learning opportunities and time for growth come from challenging and uncomfortable circumstances. Acknowledging that fear and still pressing forward takes courage, but is always worth it!

If you weren’t a marketer, what would you be?

A teacher! My mom was an elementary school teacher for 30 years, so I grew up in her shadow. I love watching kids learn & find joy in teaching my 2 kids new skills.
