Interview

When and how did you get your start in marketing?

My first job in marketing was at a small community bank where I had worked as a teller throughout high school and college. They didn’t have much of a marketing team and knew I was in college for marketing, so my junior year they asked if I wanted to leave the teller line and become their marketing assistant. It was great to be able to have real life experience while still in school. I also think it was really valuable to have my start in a small company where I had my hands in everything and was able to learn about the many facets of marketing.

What brings you joy in your role?

I love working with other people and building relationships. I also love the creative aspect of my role and being able to express that side of myself. Knowing those two things, team brainstorms are one of my favorite activities. I think there can be such a special, fun energy that comes with it (especially when it is done in person with a team of people you know & trust). I also find a lot of joy in coming up with a new idea and see it through from ideation to execution.

What tips, tricks, or pieces of advice would give a new Iterable user?

Use the Iterable Support Center! There are so many articles with amazing information in the support center and it is so easy to search to find what you are looking for. I am a big fan!

What’s your long-term vision with Iterable?

We would love to unlock more channels with Iterable to build out a more robust multi-channel strategy. We recently launched push in Iterable which has been great, with In-app next on our roadmap! I’m really excited to have all of these channels in one tool to allow us to build out more robust journeys and customer experiences with features like channel optimization.

Besides Iterable, what are the other tools in your marketing toolkit that you can’t live without?

We recently rebuilt our Segment project and added a lot more data in it which is feeding into Iterable. I have become a really big fan of the tool after learning and using it more! I specifically love the audience building tool and computed traits functionality.

How do you stay up–to–date with the latest trends and developments in marketing?

I work in email marketing so of course I love to sign up for email newsletters! It’s an easy way to have the latest trends and marketing news in my inbox without me having to search them out! I also really appreciate the importance of conferences like Activate and Unspam to help step away from the day to day and be inspired by what other companies are doing.

What’s one thing that can instantly make your day better?

Definitely my dog! He is my favorite coworker!

If you weren’t a marketer, what would you be?

Growing up I always wanted to be a teacher. Now that I’m older, I’m not sure that I would have the patience for that with younger kids but I do think it would be really fun to teach marketing courses at a college one day!
