Interview

When and how did you get your start in marketing?

I began my career at the clothing brand Free People as their very first PR employee. In the end, PR wasn’t for me, but at Free People I was able to find my marketing groove in retention and engagement. It’s been a love affair with customer-led strategies that drive mutually beneficial value ever since.

What brings you joy in your role?

It’s the process! I love immersing myself in a customer and studying their behavior to develop solutions to real customer problems. Taking the seeds of those ideas through the process of testing, iteration and implementation to drive meaningful impact on the bottom line is what lights me up.

What tips, tricks, or pieces of advice would give a new Iterable user?

Lean on Iterable support. Whenever you’re not able to solve a problem through the knowledge base, Iterable support is unquestionably helpful. I’ve learned how to do a lot of things in Iterable just by asking support questions. Always be sure to include your project name, relevant journey, campaign and user ID’s in outreach to make the conversation efficient.

What are some Iterable features that have made your job easier? Or have been game-changers for yourself and your team?

Snippets and variables have saved us so much time! We can make an update in one place, and have it translate across multiple campaigns – both drip and blast. Snippets also allow us to build in logic to make content dynamic for different audiences & user states which has helped us drive more impact within a single campaign.

Besides Iterable, what are the other tools in your marketing toolkit that you can’t live without?

Looker for BI + Asana for project management and documentation!

What would you like to see brands doing more of? Or less of?

Less cliche marketing copy, please! Speak to your customer how you want to be marketed to. Find a great copy writer and deliver connection & joy with every word.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever been given?

Process every experience & emotion (good or bad) until you’ve found the gift in it.

If you weren’t a marketer, what would you be?

An environmental scientist…or an artist…!
