Fun Facts

I’m fluent in Japanese and most of my family resides in Japan. I visited family every year up until college, and truly loved spending time during the hot summer months in Tokyo and Osaka.
I’ve run 3 full marathons. Next on my list is the NYC Marathon!
I graduated as a Senior Girl Scout. Samoas are the best Girl Scout cookies (not Thin Mints! Don’t @ me).

Interview

When and how did you get your start in marketing?

I got started in marketing through event planning. My first opportunity was in college, where I helped plan, market, and secure sponsorships for a local TEDx conference. After college, I interned at an event marketing agency, but realized my passion lies in building brands and creating customer loyalty through digital channels. Once I completed my internship, I transitioned to email and digital marketing focused roles.

 

What do you love about your role?

I love my job because I get to create the best customer experience through communication channels. Policygenius strives to make insurance easier to understand and evaluate, and our CRM marketing campaigns primarily focus on helping our customers distill relevant information, with easy to use strategies and tools right at their fingertips. Working in an ever-evolving part of marketing has been so exciting because I get to create these memorable experiences and make an impact in customer decision-making through CRM channels.

 

What’s been the proudest moment in your career?

Nothing is more satisfying than seeing a project that you’ve worked on for months launch successfully. During one of my first jobs, I spearheaded a successful multi-channel campaign for a well-known technology report that is now notorious for driving a significant number of leads and sales. This was the first time I had full ownership and responsibility for the content creation and execution for emails, social posts, paid ads, press releases, and partner promotions. Through this campaign, I helped generate 100%+ annual inbound inquiries and exceeded our top of funnel [loftiest] goals.

 

What is one piece of advice that you would give to a new Iterable user?

Definitely take advantage of the free training courses available through Iterable. Also, check out the Iterable channel in the Email Geeks Slack. I get so many great ideas from scrolling through messages and threads!

 

What do you like most about using Iterable?

I love using Iterable because it’s flexible and evolves with your brand. The intuitive user interface makes it so easy to create and manage A/B tests for campaigns and workflows, and the personalization capabilities (e.g., using custom events and handlebars) have opened new doors for our marketing campaigns.

 

Besides Iterable, what are the other tools in your marketing toolkit? How are you leveraging them?

Policygenius also uses other third party solutions for reporting and customer segmentation. It’s been exciting to use these tools because it has helped us improve our marketing campaigns by uncovering new audiences and diving deeper into customer journey paths.

 

What is one goal you’d like to achieve in your lifetime?

I’d love to visit all of the National Parks in the United States – there are 63 of them! I’ve only conquered 13 parks so far.

 

What apps, gadgets or tools (besides Iterable!) can’t you live without?

I’m obsessed with my Fitbit! I love tracking my activity, daily steps, and heart rate. You can always catch me wearing mine – I even have a fancy wristband that can match my outfits when I’m more dressed up! (Though I usually end up keeping my sports band on.)
